I copied this look off of this pin (I can't find the original source originally from C. Style). While I love love wearing this sweater as it is so warm and so comfortable, it is somewhat limiting. I tried it with my maroon skinny jeans but those suckers are just not comfortable enough to sit in all day...so I wore my black jeans instead. In sad closet news, these jeans are about to be retired. I've been wearing them at least 2-3 times a week for over a year, and they are starting to wear through in the thighs...that's what I get for having chubby legs I suppose (but all of that cheese I ate to get here was worth it ha). I've even patched them up and will continue to wear them until they are un-patchable. Unfortunately it seems that UO isn't re-stocking these so now I'm going to have to find a new favorite pair of black skinny jeans. Do you have any recommendations?

Can I say that I love that you talk about the jeans wearing through the thighs? It always happens to mine and I always feel so embarrassed, like it doesn't happen to anyone else (esp I'm here in the Philippines right now for school, and -not intended to be world class generalization - but a lot of people are so tiny, and sometimes I feel like a fat giant whose thighs are the only ones who rub through their pants
ReplyDeleteSo obsessed with this awesome cardigan... love it almost to death! I say put on a dress and throw that baby over it! Looking fabulous! Have I mentioned I love that sweater? :)

I love this sweater! Sad your pants have worn out :( I hate when that happens and ill tend to wear pants past the point of needing to get rid of them. Because I'm so short I have a tendency to ruin the bottom of the pants, the upside I fit right in with the 7th graders I teach.

I'm short and also have the same problem!... and probably have since 7th grade! ;)
DeleteI absolutely love this sweater, I've seen it all over the place and it is gorgeous. It looks great here with black skinnies too.
ReplyDeleteI have a pair of black skinnies I got from Target and I absolutely love them. I know a few other people who have them and say the same. Link: http://www.target.com/p/mossimo-women-s-denim-leggings-assorted-washes/-/A-14106162#prodSlot=medium_1_15
And I loooooove Chipotle. It's totally a guilty pleasure of mine.

Thank you so much for that jean suggestion. I will definitely have to hunt a pair down to try on!
DeleteI have a pair of black skinny jeans that I LOVE made by Bongo...from Sears of all places! I don't usually shop at department stores, but I was lured by the words "blowout sale" and found them in the Juniors section. Might be worth checking in to! Love your outfit. I've been eyeing that sweater from UO for a while.
ReplyDeleteLove that sweater! As for skinny jeans, I swear by Gap's. They fit really well and stretch without getting saggy throughout the day. Definitely my favorite place to get pants! Hope you find a replacement pair you like :)
ReplyDeleteI love that sweater! I've begun to swear by ponte pants for all day wear. I have a new pair from Sanctuary that I love and they seem like they will hold up well. As far as jeans themselves, I agree with Megan and swear by Gap's legging jeans.

I've been seeing this sweater all over pinterest and I am obsessed. In love. Gahh. Too bad I am WAY too cheap to pay $69 for it. Poo. I think it would look great with any colored jeans though! It definitely looks amazing on you :)

oh man, I feel you Danielle! When I first bought this I was totally sweating paying so much for it as I NEVER spend that much on something. A splurge every once in a while is okay I think though :)
DeleteAh, chub rub! I get it too. No amount of running or hiking will get rid of it! I actually don't own black jeans, but I do wear my J. Crew minnies instead. Wish I had a reason to buy a beautiful sweater like that!!
ReplyDeleteI love the brown boots with the black and white! I have gotten a few pairs of jeggings (hate that word) from Maurice's and they are super comfortable. They have them in black as well. I can't speak on the longevity of wear at this point haven't had mine long enough, but they are comfy!
ReplyDeleteI hate when my favorite pants wear out! I have a pair of trouser jeans that I adore and fit me perfectly, but they're getting a little thin in the thighs. I'm kind of devastated. I just bought a pair of black skinny jeans from New York and Company. They're slim enough in the legs, not super low-rise, and long enough for my ridiculously long legs. Plus, they were pretty affordable too. I highly recommend them - they're absolutely my most comfortable pants!
ReplyDeleteThe other day when I was stalking your archives, I saw this sweater and was hoping you'd wear it again!
ReplyDeleteJust admit it: this post is dedicated to the inner, unsaid workings of my mind, isn't it? AW FRAN, you shouldn't have. <3
Unfortunately, I've yet to find a perfect pair of black skinnies. I had a pair from Forever 21 a few years ago that lost their true blackness after like, 2 washes and got thin in the thighs like yours. Then I had a pair from Gap that were alright, they just seemed to stretch out really badly every time I wore them, which means I'm washing them more and they're not staying black. The ones I most recently purchased were a last-ditch effort from JCPenney's, from that "Arizona" brand, and they're not bad. They've retained their color and don't stretch out TOO badly, but they still stretch. Good black skinnies, why you so hard to find?!
I have a pair from Loft I like, although they get loose in the butt region after wearing them all day. I also love my Limited skinnies, but sometimes I think they are too skinny.
ReplyDeleteOh, and in case it makes you feel better, in high school, I made my mom buy me Silver Jeans (because everyone who was anyone was wearing them) and they rubbed so bad between the thighs that I was wearing them long after anyone should be. Then she bought me a pair of Express jeans, and although they lasted longer, they eventually tore at the crotch. Anyway, chunky thighs are the story of my life. I'm glad we could bond over this. (Unless I've just weirded you out.)
who doesn't love chipotle?? I love this more casual look on you, the sweater is amazing. i love old navy for jeans!
ReplyDeleteI seriously LOVE this sweater, it is so stinking cute! And black skinnies were my favorite for a long time, but I can only wear them on the weekends now :( Younkers (are there Younkers in Wisconsin? I don't even know...this is where I shopped when I lived in Iowa haha) seems to have styles that fit my curvy bottom half...that's where my pair is from now, and were only $20 but I don't think they sell the brand anymore :( Mine are getting old and worn too... I just, I just don't want to have to look for a new pair because these have been my favorite pair for the past few years!
ReplyDeleteCan you only wear them because of work? booo! :(
DeleteI don't think we have younkers...I think our version is boston store? I'll have to look there as well. You ladies all have such good suggestions!
Man, I hate it when my favorite jeans wear out. And because that usually takes 4-5 years, the same style is never in stock again when I need a new pair, so I've taken to going back and buying another pair of the same jeans right away if I realize that I love them.
ReplyDeleteYou a preaching to the choir! Wearing to the thighs is an epidemic in my closet. I feel for you! Love the outfit, good luck hunting for the perfect black skinnies!
ReplyDeleteI do love going to Pinterest for inspiration! What a sweet co worker you have to take your pics :-)
ReplyDeleteThe original source of the pin is C. Style at www.cstyleblog.com. I haven't found an amazing pair of black skinnies...I have some from Old Navy that have lasted a couple seasons, but they had a distinct dye smell when I first bought them.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Blair! I tried all the ways I know how to find the original source of a picture but came up with nothing. I'll edit it to give her credit :)
DeleteNo problem. I just happened to have this same outfit pinned on one of my boards!
DeleteI love those boots! I was actually just thinking this morning that they need to make jeans with an extra thick layer on the thighs for chub rub. I don't know if they come in black, but I'm really digging my Levi's 535s I got at Kohl's.
ReplyDeleteThat sweater looks so cozy! Love the black with the brown boots. I have a pair of black skinny jeans but they aren't the most comfortable. I really want to try on J.Crew's minnie pants. Let us know what you find!!

ReplyDeleteLove the Sweater, have been looking for something similar on the cheap.
ReplyDeleteEven I have that thigh rubbing, jeans destroyed problem :( , on top of it I hate jeans shopping.. (hate changing rooms) and takes too many hours/ sometimes days ..going through all the stores of different brands.
But to deal with this problem, once I find the perfect pair ... I wait for the sales and then buy the same stuff in multiples . This only works if your size remains constant , and the style is classic.
For your current pair, if you can find a professional Darner on the cheap he may be able to salvage your pair for a little while longer, where I live Darner's and tailors are pretty cheap and don't add much to the outfit cost.
Goodluck...
I think once I find my next favorite pair, I will have to get it in multiples. I'm seriously so disappointed that this pair is done for.
DeleteThat is the most perfect sweater! I'm obsessed with it!
ReplyDeleteLove brown and black together!
I love The Limited for pants! And I'll totally go with you to check them out. = )
ReplyDeletestop staring at my butt Lizzi!
Deleteok, keep doing it.
Gah. I love this sweater! I agree with the commenter who said it'd be cute with a dress.
ReplyDeleteI finally found my HG skinny jeans--Gap's Legging Jean. I think I have 3 pairs now, but no black. They do stretch out quite a bit, but I was able to go down a size from my normal size easily and they fit perfectly and don't stretch out too much. We'll see how the thighs hold up. :)
I've loved that sweater since the first time you showed it on the blog! Love!
ReplyDeleteOld navy rock star jeans are excellent ( and cheap :))
ReplyDeleteI was thinking you looked cold! Ok, so I love the tacos at Chipotle, which I think really annoys my veggie burrito eating boyfriend. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the sweater!!! It's so unique!
ReplyDeleteI have a sim cardi and I think it would go great with any number of solid colored bottoms! I got a fantastic pair of ankle-length black skinny jeans from F21 for $10 - reg price! And surprisingly they've lasted through a ton of washes and wears, you may want to check there for some denim steals.
ReplyDeleteI love that sweater and your boots! I hate the thigh problem (I've heard it called chub rub before) and especially when I find a fantastic pair of (designer) jeans that fit just right. I wrote a post last year on Spring Cleaning and when I toss out these jeans. I also included a link to another blog that found a way to make my jeans last longer by not just patching them, but reinforcing the patches on the thighs. I even showed my tailor a photo of what I wanted and now send ALL my jeans to the tailor after the first couple of wears. It is a miracle! I've included the link to that post here, but feel free to remove it if it violates your comment policies.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.scorchingstyle.com/search/label/Spring%20Cleaning
no of course it doesn't violate anything - thank you so much for including it. I think I may do that when I find my new pair just to be safe. such a good idea.
DeleteI hate it when my jeans wear out! Although, I hate shopping for new ones so much that I've probably had the same jeans for over 4 years! I think they might be starting to wear out though...sad day! What a fun sweater! It looks comfy!

Jeans and a Teacup
Ugh - my favorite pair of dark skinny jeans are wearing out, too. I like to go grab a new pair from Forever 21 - they're usually under $20. And I must say, I am in love with that sweater. Also, I totally agree - cheese is always worth it, haha :)
ReplyDeleteOmg I've been looking for a sweater like that! Super cute on you girl! ;)
ReplyDeleteI hate it the most when my black skinnies are fading in color. Sigh.. I need to teach my husband to wash them a better way so they won't lose their color so fast. hahaha.. (he loves to do laundry)
xo - Sheila
www.sheislovelyblog.com
My first pair did that too Sheila. Do you guys use detergent for dark clothes? That has really helped prevent fading for me!!
DeleteI hate it when that happens! When I love a pair of jeans I wear them out too and sometimes it's so hard to find a replacement! That cardigan is beautiful and I love the way you styled it:)!
ReplyDeleteLove this sweater!!! I hate when they stop re-stocking my favorite jeans! Then I don't know what to wear anymore! lol :(

You look great! I am in love with that sweater!!
ReplyDeleteI have been eyeing this sweater from Urban as well. You look great in it!
ReplyDeleteSara :)
And now I'm craving Chipotle. And snow. And that sweater!! I'll be pulling out my gray version this week now, for sure!!
ReplyDeleteAs for black jeans - please let me know what you find! I'm in desperate need of a pair that STAY BLACK! My cheap ones from Target like 3 years ago just aren't cutting it!
I heart sweaters that double as blankets - and this (aztec?) pattern is so fun! I love how you belted it for a polished look. I am on the hunt for a pair of black skinny jeans too - I adore my Old Navy Rockstar skinny jeans in regular denim so much I am considering getting a pair in black too (but I am so cheap that I refuse to pay the regular $29.50 for them, and am waiting until they are on sale for $18 again! ha)

Here&Now
I really like my mid-rise J Brand jeans! I've worn them half to death and they haven't stretched out or anything.
ReplyDeleteHappiest place on earth is Chipolte? I wish I could have Chipotle too *SOB*
Sad times about your jeans. My pants wear out in the butt. I only discovered this because one time I was sitting at church and could not figure out why part of my butt felt cold. Did I sit in some water? What was happening? Turns out I was going about church with a hole in the seat of my pants. GAH.
ReplyDeleteChipotle is the bomb
ReplyDeleteLOVE the sweater. What a great piece! I just might have to buy the exact one or something like it. I love the print!
ReplyDeleteOooh, this sweater is all kinds of perfect! I love this look on you.
ReplyDeleteHope you will find a great replacement pair of black skinnies soon!
That sweater is seriously so cozy looking. And I actually love that your jeans are worn out - that kind of thing always makes me feel like the purchase was totally worth it, you know? You definitely got your $$$'s worth, which is so much better than having pristine stuff that never gets used. With that said, I recently got a pair of black skinnies from Tommy Hilfiger that I really like (there are always tons of coupon codes/discounts online, so they're not too pricey either, I think mine were... $25, maybe $30).
ReplyDeleteI love that sweater! Not only does it look cozy but the pattern and cut is so cute.
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable, honey! I think I need that sweater. And I so do not need any more sweaters, haha x
ReplyDeleteI love this sweater! I'm also a sucker for Urban Outfitter's skinny jeans. If I don't buy them there, I like to go to Zara as well. Good luck shopping!
