inspired

DSC01646
This is a slight rip-off of this outfit with a few adjustments to my accessories. My second favorite part about blogging (the first is all of you ladies) is how inspired I am by other bloggers. I sometimes I look at my closet and wonder how I have all of these clothes but can't come up with an outfit...but then I just head to my Pinterest board full of outfits I pinned with pieces I already own and instantly find something to put together. Isn't providing and finding inspiration the whole point of blogging?

But don't forget - there is a difference between finding inspiration and straight up copying. Give credit where credit is due and find your own style somewhere in the middle :)

And if you need more inspiration for styling a mustard cardigan, check out Audrey's recap of the way she's worn hers! I'm also doing a little guest post for her so please check it out!

  1. Love it love it love it!

Honesty time: I find myself putting an outfit together in my closet only to discover that it's remarkably similar to something someone else has already worn. I never try to plagiarize and I give credit when I recognize the outfit! I love blogging for all the subliminal inspiration and ability to wear outfits in totally new ways. That said. I'm copying this. ;)

    1. I think that's totally legit (side note: I once heard someone say "legitly" because they thought legit was a word. FOR REAL). Until we need to start making side by side collages of your inspiration, I think you'll be ok ;)

  2. Love the red necklace and LOVE that you're going to be on Aubrey's blog tomorrow! It's so great how blogging (and pinterest) can inspire us to style items we own in new ways.

  4. Fun look! I also love the inspiration I find on here. That's really why I started blogging. Miss Whitney's blog was the first I ever read and felt totally inspired to rethink my closet. Now I love seeing what you and some of my other faves have to war each day :)

    1. so funny you called her that because Caroline (Caroline's Day) called her Voldemort the other day and I almost spit out the diet coke I was drinking.

and the buttons are this weird dark pearl color. It kind of blends in..sometimes

Love this outfit! But that's no surprise.

I love that you mentioned the difference between copying and inspiration. It seems like it is getting harder and harder to differentiate the two.

Except...I don't have any loafers, so obviously I'll need to rush out and buy at least three pairs. Or, hopefully, someone will gift me some? *ahem*

lol just kidding. I posted an outfit like this awhile ago on my blog, and even though it was from two years ago, you OBVIOUSLY stole my idea and didn't credit me. I mean, only *I* could come up with wearing a mustard cardigan over a button up shirt and skinny jeans, right? You'll be hearing from my LOLyer soon.

and I wonder how many people bought that purse because of Kendi because lets be serious, I want most things she owns. Like that cat dress yesterday. MEOW

  31. Oh dear, I ended up snorting back a laugh reading through this, it's like hmmm, whoever could she be talking about? ;) 100% with you, it's fantastic getting inspiration from blogging friends and there's so many fantastic ladies with great style out there, but it's crazy when someone people feel the need for stalker-copying.
I love seeing how much you've been using your new leather bag, it just prettier each time I see it in your posts! (And now I think I need one, which I really don't.) The leather just really sets of your yellow cardigan.

  33. Ha, I love that you're like "but don't straight up copy" after my comment on your last post, which was basically "I'm going to straight up copy this look!" Haha :) But I agree, I always try to attribute great outfits I draw inspiration from, especially when they're from other bloggers!
