I'm so glad to hear that I'm not alone in the winter funk of dressing ourselves. I mean, I'm not glad you're in a funk too (that would be mean) but that I'm not the only one - misery loves company, blah blah blah.
ANYWAY. Like I mentioned, polka dot pants were purchased as a way to break out of the funk. I've actually wanted a pair of printed pants after admiring Liz's extensive collection for months but haven't really found anything I liked. But for $18 and covered in polka dots, I figured it was time to finally pull the trigger. Being relatively tall means that pants that don't come in tall sizes are short on me, and after consulting the ladies on instagram, Gracey, Lindsay, and Whitney thought they might be a bit too short on me as well (thank you for being honest ladies!). Luckily, there was an easy fix - I just removed the stitching of the hem, and with it still having a finished edge, I added about an inch in length. I plan on rehemming them properly the next I can use my mom's sewing machine to hid the edge but I think I'm the only one who would notice anyway.
Can we talk about this new watch? As you know, I'm a watch girl. I feel naked without one on my wrists, so I'm thrilled to add this beautiful watch to my collection. While admiring it today at work (shh, don't tell my supervisor), I realized that I don't own a watch with a simple white face. With it's classic style and rich leather,I know this watch will quickly become the front runner in my collection.

Love the new watch! The simple face is perfect. I also love your new polka dot pants, though I'm sure that's no surprise :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, my Fran-inspired outfit is coming up on the blog this morning!

This color combo is really stunning - love the muted colors and pops of red! Those pants are too fantastic not to work! And the red belt, scarf and flats are just perfect! I love this look from fabulous hair to gorgeous flats :) Happy weekend!

I love the red and grey together! Gorgeous outfit!!
ReplyDeleteThose pants are pretty dang awesome.
ReplyDeleteGreat buy! They are definitely worth the $18 and the new hemming. I can't wait to see the other ways you style them, although I am very partial to red and gray combos!
ReplyDelete$18 is a great deal for trying out those polka dot pants. :) I think a chambray top would work well too. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThose 3 looks are great and you look so great!! I love how you matched the reds and you look so chic! Yes you are not alone in your funk...and I cannot wait to get out of it...but I'm on a shopping diet so who knows when that will be.

great look - and i adore the color of that red scarf!
ReplyDeleteI love your potential outfit options. Feeling out of the style rut a little, I hope!
ReplyDeleteMy eyes literally lit up at that last outfit idea because I would love to see you in some heels!!!! I just have this crazy obsession with heels and being ridiculously tall and I assume everyone has this as well, deep down inside. No? I don't know. I would just love to see you in heels. That is all.
ReplyDeleteNo, that's not all. I saw the conversation about these pants happenin' on Instagram and almost joined in but it was like, 17hours after the fact. I really like them though! Cropped dress pants are my absolute favey fave. And you know what they look best with?
Heels. <3
your rocking those polka dot pants
ReplyDeleteThat watch is fantastic! I never used to wear one when I was younger, but now I'm the same way - I feel weird without one. So much so, actually, that I've been wearing my gold watch almost daily despite the fact that the battery died on January 7. I know that because it keeps the date too, so every time I look at it, I'm reminded of how I've been putting off getting a new battery for almost 2 weeks now. Anyway, those pants are too cute on you - I love the future looks too, especially with those wedges and the lacy top (seriously can't wait for warmer weather...)
ReplyDeleteI am in love with those pants! They look amazing on you. I'm also a watch girl and having super watch envy with yours right now!
ReplyDeleteI love these pants and the pops of red!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your outfit ideas become reality :)
I think those pants are the perfect length! I'm loving slightly cropped jeans at the moment - I find them so flattering (better than bunchy fabric around the ankle). Love how you've kept everything else fairly simple :)
ReplyDeletelife-etcblog.blogspot.com.au
I like what you did with them! You're so much more talented than I am. They look perfect.
ReplyDeleteTotally wasn't hating on the pants through Instagram, btw. ;)
no, I know you weren't! I really did appreciate the honesty :)
DeleteLove the red scarf, you always looks so put together and polished, but not too done. I like the length of the polka dot pants, they will transition perfectly into Spring!
ReplyDeleteI think the polka dotted pants look great on you! I especially love how you paired them with grey and red. Tres chic! :)
ReplyDeleteHah hah, you know I love your post title.
ReplyDeleteAnd funny that when I think of printed pants, I immediately think of Liz! She DOES have an extensive printed pant collection :)
I like the red accents in this outfit, and did you know that now I know exactly what time you take your photos? STALKER RIGHT HERE.
Your watch is BEAUTIFUL. I feel naked without one on my wrist, too. I've been hoping to invest in a really classic one, and the Wellingtons are just too perfect. Love your pants!!

This color combo is fad! Loving the pants. :)
ReplyDeleteLove those polka dot pants and touches of red throughout this oufit:)!
ReplyDeleteThe polka dot pats are adorable! Can't wait to see more outfits with them. And that watch is great too, I'm a watch girl myself!

You look terrific in this color palette. I love your watch! I only have a Hello Kitty one, but I've been wanting a nice leather one.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I think we have the same Gap sweater, I normally wouldn't have noticed, but I've worn it repeatedly since it finally got cold. It's one of my faves and I also have it in black. :)
Oh my gosh...$18! I'm so tempted to get them right now but I think I've spent my budget for the month! I have the length problem with pants too. I used to be a length Nazi and would refuse to spend money on pants that didn't hit exactly were I wanted them too! I've loosened up a bit since then :-) But those pants are cropped so I think the length is fine - even on the model they look a little shorter than usual.

Thrilled you love the watch! It's a beauty! And how fun are the pants? The altered length is perfect on you.
ReplyDeleteOh yes these trousers are superb! GAP have some like that over here as do Boden but I'm hesitant as when I've worn my green/blk polka dot trousers my husband, mum & dad all said they looked like pj bottoms! Maybe it's the colour. Navy is much more subtle, really like them with the red. I do navy & red a lot when I'm in a hurry as it's fail safe!

Hi, Franziska, thanks for the note on my blog. I like your polka dot outfit ideas. Isn't it amazing what you can do with a print? I'm wearing a polka dot dress today, and I even got some ideas looking at this!
ReplyDeleteI like the big face on that watch! And since I'm a polka dot fan...I love the print on the pants!

I'm tall with LONG legs (5'10'', inseam: 36'')I use that trick all the time! If I love some pants I check out the hemming and SOMETIMES I can tailor them to my length.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the pants and styling for sure! Can't wait to see you other outfits :)
dang girl, you have me beat! finding pants growing up was the worst but I finally have it somewhat figured out.
Deletesometimes ;)
I love the pants!! And the watch - I definitely need a leather one that doesn't weigh as much as my other two - I feel like my left arm is going to get buff from wearing them all the time!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking I'll do a DIY version of these pants using a pair of faded black pants I have.
Your new watch is simply beautiful - great choice! It will never go out of style. =) Also, I absolutely love your polka dot pants, and the fact that there was an easy fix for the length. =)

Your pants are awesome! I've seen the polka dot jeans everywhere lately, but I really like these even more!
