A black blazer is something I've wanted in my closet for a really long time, but never really made an effort to look for because I knew finding something that fits me exactly how I want it to wasn't going to be that easy, especially with a limited budget. I got really lucky during a Saturday color tag sale at Goodwill where I got this blazer for $4. The sizing is strange since my other favorite blazer is a 10 Tall, whereas this blazer is a 12 Petite but somehow it works since it fits my shoulders well. The only down side is that the arms are too short which isn't really a problem for me since I insist that all my sleeves be pushed/cuffed up - I hate full length sleeves. It is a bit more casual but I think it'll serve my closet well for now. I'll still be on the look out for a more formal black blazer but I'll probably wait to buy that as part of a suit - something I don't really need at this moment.

You can never go wrong with a great blazer. I love the brown belt paired with the black too. Heather
ReplyDeleteHa, I'm the same way about my sleeves. Unless my hands are really freezing, I always have to push my sleeves up. Your blazer looks great, and for that price? A keeper, I'd say.
ReplyDeleteWell how chic and pulled together you look!! Since you paid $4 bucks, you can forgive the sleeve length. Great find/addition to your wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteI was going to buy a Lauren Conrad blazer at Kohl's this weekend and could not bring myself to spend...$70 on it?? Really for what? I thought if it were on sale I might, but not for $70 regular price.
What a great find! You look great, I love the scarf added in as an extra touch too.

That's a great outfit! What a great buy on your blazer. I read your post with the list of items to buy. Such a good idea...I tend to buy randomly and then never feel like I can put great outfits together.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find! I have a hard time finding blazers that fit well, too. I'm shaped like an upside-down triangle: broad shoulders and skinny waist. My best-fitting blazer (also a thrift store find!) was a few sizes too large in the waist until my grandma took it in. Hopefully we'll both eventually find a brand that fits consistently without alterations :)
ReplyDeleteGirl you better rock that killer $4 blazer! As a fellow midwesterner I am simply oozzzing with jealously over you right now! I love that chic and clean jeaned look! So me...haha!

I love your blazer! It looks great on you. I hesitated buying a blazer for a long time, but when I finally got mine, I was amazed at how versatile a simple black blazer was. It adds instant polish to any outfit.

I don't have many blazers, but I LOVE my black one! It's from H&M and has lasted forever. I have actually worn it as a suit (with some black pants from Banana Republic) a few times - it's just so versatile!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I just realized that I wasn't a follower on GFC - I officially am now! Love your blog, Fran!
When you get ready to get rid of that blazer, pass it my way, it's my size!
ReplyDeletelove this look! so simple and chic! i have quite a few black blazers/cardigans they are the best for your closet, they go with everything!
ReplyDeleteAdorable blazer for $6! I wish you lived closer... I would love to go Goodwill shopping with you! Maybe I'll have to make a trip to Madison sometime soon :)
ReplyDeletei'm fairly sure you know me and my love of blazers. looks great on you and you can't beat the price! also, the colors of the sky in your photos are just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThat is an amazing find! A great black blazer is actually hard to find! I had a tough time finding one and I definitely paid more than $4 for it!

You have such good luck at the thrift store! I like shorter/rolled sleeves, it's easier to show bracelets.
ReplyDeleteGreat find on the blazer, but can't believe no-one else has commented on the amazing pictures too. The lighting in these is beautiful! Well done.
ReplyDeleteTotal score! You need to take me Thrifting and show me how it's done. Very chic outfit, btw.
ReplyDelete$4 what a great find! I love the blazer paired with this scarf here, you look great!
ReplyDeleteBlazers are my sartorial Achilles' heel. I own almost 40 of them. (I can't believe I actually typed that statement and am willing to let other people in on my dirty, terrible secret.) This blazer looks divine on you. Seriously, $4? It looks like you spent over $100 on it. You are a thrift master.

How cute!! I love this look on you. For some reason, I hate the way blazers look on me. I agree about the sleeves--I wish everything just came in bracelet length..

I never look in the petite section, but now that you say it, that's really smart. I prefer cuffed/pushed up/three-quarter/whatever sleeves, so I could totally do that with long-sleeved pieces. Thanks for the tip.
ReplyDeleteAlso the sky looks beautiful in your pictures :)
Love this! I am the SAME way about sleeves. I can't stand full-length sleeves and am notorious for pushing them up a little.
ReplyDeleteI love your blazer and scarf, but omg it looks like you must be freezing!! 100% agree on pushing up sleeves - you found a great bargain!

GODDDD you are a blogging beast. I have a hard time getting myself out of bed and into the shower when it's less than 50 degrees (so seven months out of the year here...) and you're out in the snowy tundra rockin' it. You mah hero!!!

Umm I really, really love this look on you. I don't know what it is about the photos, but they're pretty great. Also, it's funny that you hate full length sleeves; I'm starting to notice that all my cardigans from The Limited are 3/4 sleeve. I stared at my cardi sleeve for a couple minutes today wondering why 3/4 and who decided on that. And then I remember that I roll them up anyway.
ReplyDeleteBlack blazer is such a classic! It's staple in my rotation of outfits! Your outfit looks fantastic, as usual I love your style! Loving the leopard scarf paired with the yellow pop of colour with the belt! Gorge :)
ReplyDeleteGirl! I cannot agree with you more about the long sleeve dilemma! I cannot STAND long sleeves. I love buying them, but they NEVER stay down. I applaud those who can keep them down comfortably! Thank god, I am not the only crazy one! This blazer makes you look WONDERFUL! I am so glad you found your blazer!! Yay!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous blazer! Love the length and fit! Looks fab paired with the leopard scarf and boyfriend jeans! Amazing look girl!
ReplyDeleteThis may seem crazy, but I don't own any blazers. None, zero, zilch. Totally envious of your find!

I love thrifting a great blazer! And I think sizing is strange in general - but even more so at the thrift store, so anything that looks interesting goes into the dressing room with me. The scarf really pops and the lighter belt is a nice touch. :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE this outfit! It's so simple, yet I'm certain it's something that I've thought of wearing. Also, I need you to teach me how to wrap a scarf. Yours is perfect, but I am totally incapable!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you that you found that blazer for $4! It's weird, even though black blazers are in plenty I searched FOREVER for a black blazer, and went through a few shopping mistakes to get to the one I have right now, but I'm still not sure I LOVE LOVE LOVE the one I ended up with. There's still time to return it, so I'm mulling over it.
ReplyDeleteGirlllll, that blazer looks fab on you!!! Great find, it's so hard to find a great one (especially at such a crazy good price!)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great deal! Love finds like that. I really like the more casual rolled sleeve look too. I'm going to have to do that.

You look FAB!! I LOVE goodwill!! There are some great things to be found there!
ReplyDeletelove the blazer, love it more because it was only $4! what a gem.
ReplyDeletefrom my experiences, when I buy petite, I usually go one size up when compared to "regular" sizing. But at the end of the day, the tag size doesn't matter, just as long as it fits you nicely.
