As a disclaimer, my mirror seems to be permanently streaked because I did windex it down before taking these pictures. Sorry :(
Gap Broken-In Straight Khakis
Gap Modern Boot Cut
I thought these would be the ones that work out for me - from the stock picture, I thought they would streamlined, not too baggy, and just create a nice silhoutte. This may be true on the model wearing heels, but on a not model with flats, this was not the case. They made me feel very lumpy, and they were SO BAGGY beneath the knees. These are in the tall length, but even if they were tailored to the proper length, that would be far too flared for my taste. Again the fabric was thinner so the pockets show through. They fit true to size in the waist.
It keeps getting worse, huh? Another case of thin fabric, too much fabric beneath the thigh, really wide-legged openings. I wasn't too optimistic about these in the first place since I don't think they look good on the model, but who ever knows? Well, I do now.
This was the pair I was most excited about - a modern fit that elongates your leg line, doesn't have a baggy leg, and has a comfortable cotton/spandex fabric. Of the four pairs of pants that I ordered, these were the best ones (but as you can see above, there wasn't too much competition). I ordered them in two sizes, both in tall, and found that they ran big. I'm usually between two sizes, and felt that the smaller size looked and felt better. What I didn't like is the side pockets that jutted out again, adding width to the hips, and too much fabric around the lower legs again. I thought they looked nicer with heels (of course), but I wanted a pair I felt comfortable in while wearing flats. Honestly, I was trying to convince myself that these would be fine for what I was looking for. Black pants, nothing too obnoxious, nothing tooooo bad....but in the end they weren't what I wanted, and I don't want to settle for something that's just okay. I want to actually like them, not talk myself into being okay with something I don't actually like.
So in the end, all of them were returned to the store. Spoiler alert: during my trip to the mall, I did find two pairs I do like a lot! You'll see them soon enough :)
