Our second semester of school officially started on Monday, and it feels like we never even left. We got two weeks of vacation, and most of that was spent either driving home, making a little pit stop in St. Louis for a night on our way to Alabama, or enjoying the balmy (~40 degree) weather in Gulf Shores. I went to bed as late as I wanted, and slept in as late as possible every day - it was amazing. It was also spent trying to get back to school - it took nearly twice as long to get here as you couldn't go more than 40 mph on the interstate and I maaaaaaayyyyy have ended up in a ditch at one point. Whoops!

But anyway, school. This semester we are finishing out core (so last semester we did basic biochemistry, physiology, microbiology, and immunology) and this semester we do the basic pathology and pharmacology, and then we start into systems. I'm excited but really really nervous. I'll be spending more time in actual lectures too, which means I'll have a reason to actually put some thought into what I wear, as opposed to the end of last semester where I got to bum around my house most of the time.

  1. I'm glad you made it out of the ditch!

I like this outfit, and I like that the colors are from the accessories and the boots.

  2. Such a cute outfit! I like the combination of black and cognac, with the warm colors of the scarf to add some interest.
Glad you got home safely, particularly after that run-in with the ditch ... I'd be terrified if that happened to me!

  26. I am never allowed to complain about only getting a month off. Actually, I never can complain about that again because this was my last break.

Anyway, onto the clothing. I have tried to make cognac and black work for me but it just doesn't. I ADORE it on you so much!

  30. Love your style & blog! I'm curious if you could do a post about your favorite brands of jeans? I have a terrible time finding jeans that fit well after many wears.

    1. Sure! To answer your question right now though quickly, my favorite jeans have been Joe's Jeans (I have 1 bootcut pair that I've been wearing for 3+ years now), Madewell for skinnys (many times found on the sales rack!), and as strange as it sounds, American Eagle. I have 3 pairs from there, and they still are in truly the same condition as they were when I bought them. At least just give them a shot - you can usually get them for under $40 too!

    2. Thanks, I think I'll give the Madewell skinnys a shot!

  34. Well, it sounds like aside from the whole car-in-the-ditch thing (glad you're okay!) you had a great break! I did much of the same while on break from work, and now that I'm back it definitely feels like I never left. Good luck this semester! Those boots are beautiful so I hope you have an excuse to wear them now that you have to get dressed for lecture. And that's such a nice gift from a blogger friend!

  36. One time I was following my friend in a totally unfamiliar place in a rental car and she was flying down an icy road and went into the ditch. I knew she had been going too fast (I blame her for making me go fast) and I could not make the stop sign on the completely icy road so I also went into the ditch. I believe, we, like you, just said 'whoops'...;)

  37. Love this black and brown color combo with that pretty scarf! PS your hair is spot on today!

  38. A new semester starts again, whew! I'm happy to hear that your break was so refreshing. With such a rigorous schedule, extended breaks from school are so, so necessary. Today's outfit is really great, too. I'm such a fan of wearing cognac accessories with a black outfit, and I'm still kind of drooling over that scarf. It's gorgeous!

  39. Oh my goodness about the ditch!
Yay that you were in St. Louis, if only for a day!
Good luck with your semester. Not gonna lie, it kind of stresses me out reading it, but I'm sure you will be fabulous!
Oh, and this outfit is one of my favorites of yours, for sure!
